When In Rome…

Rome is a challenging city to tackle in one day, but it can be done. This is a run-down of how you can visit most of Rome’s popular spots in a day trip!

A great way to start your trip to Rome is a visit to the Colosseum. There are various spots located around the Colosseum that are perfect for photo ops! If you want to go inside, it costs 18 Є to take a self-guided tour through the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. This tour can take a few hours, so if you are only in Rome for a day I do not recommend it.

The next spot to hit is the Trevi Fountain. This beautiful fountain was constructed in the early to mid 1700s and is one of the most well-known fountains in the world. Be sure to bring a coin to throw in to ensure a return to Rome (remember: back to the fountain and toss the coin with your right hand over your left shoulder)!

If you have a little bit of spare time make sure to check out Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary! At this sanctuary hundreds of cats roam free in some of Rome’s ruins. You can watch them as they walk around from above the ruins or you can even walk down the stairs to meet them. All of the cats are vaccinated so it is safe to pet them. They are also all available for adoption! Here is the link to their website for more information: https://www.gattidiroma.net/web/en/

The last place that I highly recommend checking out is the Vatican. Plan to spend around three hours or more here because the exhibits are humongous! The walk through is worth it, however, because at the end you will see the Sistine Chapel. Although you are not allowed to take pictures inside of the chapel to remember your visit, witnessing “The Creation of Adam” by Michelangelo is an amazing experience. The entire ceiling is covered in frescoes by Michelangelo so make sure to take some time looking at as many as you can.
